Getting started
Start with one real enquiry
Updated
You don't need to set anything up before using grafter.ly for real work. The dashboard's Getting started list tracks three things, and each ticks itself off when you've actually done it — no setup wizard, no tour.
1. Add your first job
Start with a job already on your plate. Open Jobs, tap New job, and write a sentence about what the customer needs. Full steps.
Already got a book of work in a spreadsheet or another tool? Import it instead of typing it in.
2. Forward an enquiry
Your account has its own email address, shown in Settings → Inbound email and on the dashboard. Forward a customer enquiry to it and it lands as a job with the customer's details filled in. Full steps.
This is the habit the rest of the product hangs off — one forward instead of copying details out of an email.
3. Send your first quote
Open a job, tap Create quote, add lines from your price list, and send it. Your customer accepts online from their phone, and you see it the moment they do. Full steps.
When you're ready
Two connections wait under the "When you're ready" heading, and neither blocks anything above:
- Connect Stripe — invoices go out with a card-payment link.
- Connect Xero — sent invoices reach your accounts without re-keying.
The whole path, once
Forward an enquiry → check the job → send the quote → customer accepts → book the work → raise the invoice from the quote → money lands. Each step starts from the one before it, so the customer and the work are entered once, at the start.
