Connect Stripe for card payments

Updated

With Stripe connected, every invoice email and invoice page carries a Pay invoice button. Your customer pays by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay; the money goes to your Stripe account and on to your bank in a day or two. grafter.ly is never in the money flow and adds nothing to Stripe's fee.

Steps

  1. Open Settings and find the Payments section.
  2. Tap Connect Stripe.
  3. You're sent to Stripe. Sign in to your Stripe account, or create one — Stripe asks for your business details and the bank account your payouts go to.
  4. Approve the connection and you're back in Settings, with a Connected badge and the date.

After connecting

  • Invoices you send from now on carry the pay button. Already-sent invoices get it too — their pay links start working as soon as the connection is live.
  • When a customer pays, the invoice marks itself paid within seconds and the job's activity records it.
  • A deposit on a quote is also taken through this connection.

Worth knowing

  • Finish Stripe's own setup. The connection is only half the job — Stripe also runs its own checks (identity, bank account) before it takes payments. Until those clear, the Payments section shows a Setup incomplete badge and customers can't pay. Follow the link on the warning to finish setup in Stripe; the badge clears on its own once Stripe is happy.
  • A Test mode badge means the connection isn't taking real payments yet — reconnect with your live Stripe account.
  • Disconnect Stripe in the same section stops new pay links; nothing already paid is affected.
