Check your VAT quarter

Updated

The VAT page answers the question you have four times a year: how much of the money in the account is not mine.

We do not file anything. grafter.ly is not an MTD-recognised tool, so the return still goes through whatever you or your accountant use today. What this does is stop you assembling the figures from a shoebox the night before.

Steps

  1. Go to VAT.
  2. Pick the VAT period.

What you see

  • VAT charged — the VAT on invoices you have raised in the quarter.
  • VAT on costs — the VAT inside the expenses you recorded, which is why photographing receipts pays for itself.
  • The difference between them.

On the Flat Rate Scheme

If you are on the Flat Rate Scheme, set that in your settings along with your percentage, and the page changes to match: Turnover including VAT, Your flat rate, and what that comes to.

It does not offer you a reclaim figure, because on the Flat Rate Scheme there generally is not one. Showing the number and having it be wrong would be worse than not showing it.

Accrual, not cash

The figures run on invoices raised, not payments received. If you are on cash accounting, these numbers will not match your return. Worth knowing before you rely on them.
